Yield
For those longing to bear fruit
Save Your Spot
What do we mean by 'yield'?

Expectations can feel heavy.
Like a weight across our shoulders driving us along a path we haven't chosen for ourselves.
Whether you're carrying the weight of the expectations of others, or yourself - or a combination of both - no-one likes giving ourselves over to this heavy load.
Jesus speaks of a different way - a lighter way.
Where the 'yoke' across your shoulders produces something different to heavy expectations.
Rest for your soul.
When it comes to the pressure of expectations, the term 'yield' can be tricky.
Yielding does mean to 'give up, or give over', but it also carries the connotation of 'bearing fruit' and 'flourishing'.
In order to see yield (or fruit) in our lives, what are we being invited to yield (or give up)?
Yielding to the 'yoke' of Jesus invites us toward an unexpected yield in our everyday lives.
This SoulWalk pathway explores the yoke of Jesus from Matthew 11:28-30 — introducing the spiritual practice of ‘yielding’.
Our pathway involves three movements through the prelude to Jesus' 'manifesto' - known more commonly as 'the beatitudes'.
Over three fortnights you’re invited into a series of ‘micro-retreats’ unpacking Matthew 5:2-12 - beginning with a short video, then two readings and audio reflections over each fortnight.
At the end of each fortnight you’re invited to get together with your SoulWalk community to hear what others are discovering.

Content Brief
SoulWalk is a formation resource centred around spiritual practices that are shaped by the Christian Story. This resource intentionally explores the value of spiritual practice as it relates to the strengthening of mental health.
A SoulWalk Pathway is a course of content designed for a small cohort of participants to develop a specific spiritual practice. This content is delivered through a series of ‘micro-retreats’.
A micro-retreat is an invitation into a moment of reflection from the comfort of home as an accessible online activity.
The YIELD pathway presents the spiritual practice of yielding through the lens of the beatitudes in Matthew 5. Each fortnightly movement is accessed through videos, PDFs, and audio files through the website. The learning cohort is also encouraged to meet together at the end of each fortnight.
CONTENT OUTLINE:
Movement One
- over the first fortnight participants interact with the themes of 'the poor in spirit' and 'the grievers' from the beatitudes found in Matthew 5:3&4
Movement Two
- the second fortnight participants will interact with the themes of 'the humble' and 'the power-givers' from the beatitudes in Matthew 5:5-7
Movement Three
- the third and final fortnight invites participants to interact with the themes 'the hidden' and 'the disrupters and peacemakers' from the beatitudes in Matthew 5:8-10

Preparation:
A SoulWalk Pathway is unhurried and intentional -- combining a blend of personal reflection, nature engagement, and social interaction.
In order to best engage in this pathway, you are encouraged to prepare:
-
A 'secret place'. The audio recordings are designed for listening while you are in nature. Whether on a nature walk, in your backyard or as you gaze out your window, your secret place will provide the opportunity to engage in nature.
-
A journal. The content provided will ask questions for reflection and learning. While worksheets are available for download, recording your thoughts in a hand-written journal is recommended as it will provide an increased opportunity for you to track your own experience.
-
Some friends. A SoulWalk pathway can be experienced invidually, but your discovery will be far richer in a small community. The pathway is intentionally scheduled for a fortnightly gathering for people to connect and learn from one another.
